REMYL interview - Erroded Morality

#2 - 1994 - (Australia)

Eroded Morality
- Tell us about Remyl...
REMYL
Remyl is the first and only cyber-trash-tech-synth-punkscape project in the universe. Emerging from cyber-trash-tech-monochrome-synth-punkscape towards the grayscale realm of our current operations. Based in Oslo, Norway we are three persons, lots of computers, synthesizers, and other tech and trash-tech devices working together and against each other, to provoke creativity.
Eroded Morality
- Do Remyl play live ? Describe Remyl live
REMYL
Remyl has played live once! It was a chaotic charity-venue for Norwegian ex-prisoners organization, with 5 rock'n'roll bands, an accoustic act and Remyl. For the first time we had to practice, and an ultra-compact set, 16 minutes long, containing the 4 tracks Know the Machine, Golden Triangle, Daue Blomster and Maskin Maskin from the Remyl CD, and also two new tracks (one of them, ("Addicts") is to be released on a Pan-Scandinavian electro-music CD documentary, by the Finnish CyberWare label, in a rerecorded version). Our friend from "Zest" was cam-cording the gig, but the tapes came out blank. Also, the whole trash-tech elektro-lab pileup (Remylic studios on-stage) suffered a severe crash-trauma right in the opening of the set, caused by the gas-leak machine. Our protective suits and gas-masks protected us from the world.
Eroded Morality
- What songs are on the CD ? When/where was it recorded?
REMYL
Everything on the CD was done during 1993 at the Remyl elektro-lab, except "Post Human" which was made in earlier nomadic days. The CD contains the following tracks:
"Know the Machine" - they are here to stay and they afflict your life in many ways.
"XoX". "Golden Triangle" (v 5.00 (Living Lie version))
"BullMerge" - the ramblings of Remyl's soft and hardware.
"The Barrier" = "Remyl ultra-live at the elektro-lab"
"Post Human", the last fight - machinery against itself.
"Daue Blomster" is the remains of a long jam. Mostly about dead flowers being stepped upon.
"Black Visitors", a dark-scape as the result of black-metal friends visiting us when we were working. They provided atmosphere, as you can hear.
"Gets to know You is an erroneous mutation of the first track, low-speed with omni-triggered vocal phrases.
"Hardware Dump" - the sound of/for tech wasted - not for its uselessness, but for being non-desireable.
"Maskin Maskin" a tribute and an insult to the human naive attitude towards new technology. The words are in Norwegian, but you will understand them.
Eroded Morality
- What does Remyl mean?
REMYL
"Remyl" is probably the second name of the person who discovered the now extinct plant "Euphorbia Remyl".
Eroded Morality
- Eaøçqueshniosis?
REMYL
dobbel for svær
Eroded Morality
- Would you say there is a "Scene" in Norway?
Are there many bands you like up there?
REMYL
- There might be a scene in Norway, but we can not see it from where we stand... Seriously - things happen but quite randomly. There are good bands like Angst-Pop, Anstalt, Apoptygma Berzerk, Dunkelheit, Humid, Red Harvest, Sadomaoistan, Zest, some of who will appear on "The Re-Incarnation of the Sun", "Sex, Drugs & EBM 2" and the electro-music CD documentary, mentioned earlier. There are surely many other good bands that we don't know of - wchich is a pity.
Eroded Morality
- Tell me about the CD with Dunkelheit you gus, Piledriver etc.:
Who's idea was that?
REMYL
Dunkelheit had the excellent idea for "The Re-Incarnation of the Sun", and we were lucky to be invited to contribute. It will be a good document on the Norwegian industrial, electro or whatever -scene. It is kind of a joint-venture between the participating bands, and it will be released in 500 copies in february by "Dunkelheit productions". There will be two tracks by Remyl; "Golden Triangle (v 2.00)" and "Aahhhmm".
Eroded Morality
- Are any of the members of Remyl vegeterian?
Do any og you have tatoos? Are any of you married?
REMYL
Not at all.
Eroded Morality
- You music sounds like a real mixture of styles, what things influence you.
REMYL
The state of the world, the state of our heads, creative statements by others. Good music, bad music. Total silence, utter noise. Technology.
Eroded Morality
- What did you have for last nights dinner?
REMYL
One had a vegetarian experience. The other eating porridge. The third ate nothing.
Eroded Morality
- Is good takeaway food available in Norway?
What do you prefer - chinese or thai food?
REMYL
Yes, all kinds. Favourites are Pakistan/Turkish stuff. But we are really waiting for the first "Bastesen whale-snack take-away" in our neighbourhood.
Eroded Morality
- Do you listen to any death metal? What do you think of it?
REMYL
?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Eroded Morality
- What is Norwegian TV like?
REMYL
Norwegian TV is well produced shit. TV is not good. It rips you of your life. One way communication. Prefab brain-stuffing.
Eroded Morality
- What are Remyl's plans for the future?
REMYL
We hope to release a new CD in 1994 - but its a financial struggle, as always. Hopefully a live act will come together. Work is in progress.
Eroded Morality
- Thanks for your time! Anything to add?
REMYL
No, thank you.
